Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

ReplyDeleteDon't touch the hair!
ReplyDeleteLady Kildew - I think the tattoo artist was a little bit off this time with the postmark! ;)
ReplyDeleteLol at Maybelline!
ReplyDeleteI don't know a dang thing about boxing, but I'm thinking if entered into the ring today with a stance like that, he'd be flattened faster than Nate Maas posting the answer to a Saturday Mystery Person contest.
Pics of old time bare knuckle boxers show a much different stance than we see today. Typically, they lean back, and hold their forearms up. This is because they would have broken the bones in their hands if they boxed as fighters do today.
ReplyDeleteMaybelline:
ReplyDeleteAfter taking a second look, the hair sort of reminds me of John Travolta's in "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease."
Isn't this the man who beat John L. Sullivan?
