Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

PJ, I very much enjoyed this week's theme. Many factors dictate that today's play time is very different from what it used to be only a generation ago ...
ReplyDeleteI have a 4yro and I'm building him a tree-house on the weekends; I always try to find a way to get him involved, by putting a screw on a stud and having him tighten it, or aking him to hand me the tools, etc. I think we all need to try to make sure our kids get at least some time away from game consoles and TVs and into the outside, in the sunlight :)

My 2 great grand daughters (3&5) sing the song all the time. They sing a second verse that I had never heard before. Something about "Cows in the Meadow".
ReplyDeletesorry for the duplicate: captcha failed and I was asked to re-enter the word; ended-up with two posts :S
ReplyDeleteHere is wikipedia take on the song.

Grandma and I recently went to our 6 Year grand daughters Kindergarden school to have Lunch with her , and when a grandma and Grandpa show up for school you suddenly become all the kids Grandma and Grandpa, and yes we all played a rousing game of Ring Around the Posey at play time. So the answer is yes they still play it.
ReplyDeleteYep, they do still play it. Just heard my 6 year old granddaughter singing Ring Around the Rosie the other day.
ReplyDeleteThere is hope, PJM!
Thanks for the trip (way) down memory lane, PJM. I hadn't thought about this game in years. I'm glad to hear kids are still playing it.
ReplyDeleteYes, some kids still play that. And just to tie in with this week's theme, all week my 3 girls have been playing with paper dolls. Anyone remember those?
