Indian Tricar
Today's picture was taken in 1906, and shows a couple on an Indian Tricar. It looks to be some sort of motorized three-wheeled bicycle. I am not sure at what point in time the biker chicks started riding on the back, as opposed to in front of the handlebars. In any case, it looks like that having a bike has been a good way to get the ladies attention for over 100 years now.

It looks like a motorized bicycle, and that guy is wearing a cap like he is for hire.
ReplyDeleteMotorized rickshaw?

I heard on the local news that this is 'Motorcycle Awareness Month.'
ReplyDeleteSo this series was well-timed.
When is 'Tractor Awareness Month?'
Wouldn't you think the weight over the front wheel like that would have made it hard to steer? Start in a turn and all of a sudden it's a quick SHARP turn!!! Interesting.
ReplyDeleteKinda cool except for the fact that the lady becomes the bug shield. THAT is probably what moved the passenger to the back.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that it couldn't go fast enough to hqave a bug problem

I was able to dig up a few facts about this machine. As it says on the sign in the background, this is an Indian tri-car. Indian offered this front end as an accessory and the customer could put a seat (as in the photo) or a box for deliveries, etc.
ReplyDeleteMr. and Mrs. Willie Kay are the happy couple in the photo.
I just noticed how handsome your father was (My Best Friend).
ReplyDeleteI thought that a handsome man was suppose to pass down his looks to his offsprings. What happened?
LOL
I just thought your comment count was a little low.
