Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

Is it Georges Lemaitre?
ReplyDeleteWeelarry,
ReplyDeleteYour entry is not correct.
PJM
This is Father Coughlin.
ReplyDeleteGood morning PJM.
ReplyDeleteCould it be Jess Carroll.
Marie,
ReplyDeleteWe have a winner. It is indeed Father Coughlin.
Father Coughlin was a priest who amassed a radio audience in the 1930's of tens of millions of people. He was one of the first to promote "Social Justice". He was an antisemite, and Adolf Hitler sympathizer. While promoting social justice, he was really a socialist fascist.

Good morning Ray,
ReplyDeleteSorry, but Marie had the winning entry.
PJM
Thank you, PJM. Will we have another round this morning?
ReplyDeleteWell done Marie, and
ReplyDeleteDave Nelson in the the first round.
Congrats to Dave & Marie.
ReplyDeletePJM: It is a beautiful day - go out & enjoy it. You don't have to sit by your computer & entertain us.
Good job Marie!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first photo I have ever seen of Fr. Coughlin. I do remember that the mere mention of his name could set my (German) grandfather into a towering rage. It is ironic that the man looks vaguely Oriental, and probably would NOT have been welcome in Hitler's Germany.
