Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
Peter Schiff had perfectly predicted the current economic meltdown. Read his new book, which explains where the economy and financial institutions go from here.
The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets: How to Keep Your Portfolio Up When the Market is Down (Little Books. Big Profits)About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

I think you're correct. it certainly looks as if it is Woodrow Wilson.
I agree. It's definitely Woodrow Wilson.
I agree, that's the first person I thought of.
You'll never win if you start guessing at your own mystery people.
Looks like Wilson, but who is in the back?
Sorry to refer to last week's topic, but a couple people said "The South will rise again."
Just what do you visualize? Secession? Prosperity? Seems to me people are too fond of federal funding to give it by seceding. The south is pretty prosperous now. More people now a days want to move from the north to the south than vice versa. So just what is going to rise again?
It's a little difficult to see the guy with Wilson, but comparing this photo and a photo on Wikipedia, it could be Thomas R. Marshall, the Vice President.
Nate:
You crack me up.
Thanks for the laugh.
Nate:
I signed in, but anon showed up. Hmmm.

Being as today is Armistice Day, these photos are particularly appropriate for this week. Did you plan it? I looked into the history of Veteran's Day and found the meaning for "eleventh hour" too. The armistice went into effect at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. It was the last serious effort to bring the war to an end, and succeeded. That is why November 11th started as Armistice Day and evolved into Veteran's Day.
Thanks to all of you who have served and to those who supported those who served!!!
i think v p marshall was a good guess, ive been out fer a while with an amalgomated kneecap, and misaligned hemaglobin, thank goodness fer pomegranite juice,

googled - Woodrow Wilson 1918 Liberty Bond Parade
turns out it was referred to as a Liberty Loan Parade - for the sell of Liberty Bonds -
I had to sign in as Anon. to post my guess about Marshal.
I showed up as Anon, too when I said it was Woodrow Wilson.
I never know what my browser is going to do.
Re "The South Will Rise Again," it's the principles that will rise - State's Rights, taxes, and limiting the control of the Federal Government.
We are rapidly turning into the United Socialist States of America.
Who knows - I think a group is going to secede, at least in theory, it's sort of happening already.
SmartGirl, thanks for the explanation. I support the definition but would not use that phrase myself because it brings up thoughts of the misery of the war between the states, not just the root causes.
However, I'm all for restoration of the US Constitution in all it's original glory.
Definitely Wilson.

I am definitely tired of the right wing "United Socialist States of America" crap. The biggest socialist program in America is the Public School System and that was started by Thomas Jefferson. Trying to say there is something new under the sun just does not fly when it come to the whole Socialism argument.
I agree with Anon about "United Socialist States of America" cliché. Unfortunately, BOTH sides have too many labels and over simplified talking points which bog down discussion and create arguments. Too many knee jerk reactions, not enough thought. NO SIDE is immune from this.
