Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

Seeing as how it's early in the morning, is that General Jubal; Early?
ReplyDeleteHow about Gen. Longstreet
ReplyDeleteWilliam is correct.
ReplyDeleteGeneral James Longstreet.
The early bird gets the worm!

My GG Grandfather fought under Stonewall Jackson in every major engagement of the war. I love the history of that period.
ReplyDeleteContest Day for the past two weeks have been pretty easy. I immediately recognized both but was late in logging on. Has the moderator gone soft?
ReplyDeleteSnapshotart,
ReplyDeleteI think that I won two weeks in a row not too long ago. It seemed that people were losing enthusiasm for really hard contests that took all day, so I eased up a bit.
Let me know what you all prefer.

I prefer an update on Lovey and the chickies!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I have really enjoyed all the photos of this week and the prior week.
I don't mind the harder contests as long as there is some tie or clue to solving it. The "out of the blue" contests I usually put down quick and move on to something else.
ReplyDeleteThe fact the contest is easy or hard depends on what a certain person knows.
ReplyDeleteOne photo may be hard for some people, but real easy for the next. Then that person may find your next photo impossible to solve.
It is just the fact of your upbringing. Where you were born and what your parents taught you,or you learned on your own.
So to say that it was easy the last 2 times doesn't mean it was easy for the rest of use.
Though they were fairly easy. I'll bet that a lot of people didn't have the slightest idea who they were.

It figures. The first person I'd have properly identified in a dogs age and I missed it by 90 minutes.
ReplyDeleteYes, a update on your ranching would be nice.
ReplyDeleteAlso an update on your flood, and solar, and wind power would be nice also.

I checked your archives and see you had quite a few pictures of cowboys and you bemoan the fact that there aren't many left. There are lots of cowboys doing work horseback in the west yet. You just cant see them from the road!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter to me if the contest pics are easy or hard. I don't have access to computers on Saturdays so cannot participate at all. The only one I recognized immediately was Marie Dressler, and she was so famous, it was no contest.
