    Anonymous, if you need something to do today, you can help me do some yard work. I'll even give you some fresh homemade bread hot out of the oven spread with delicious homemade apple butter. I have apple cider to go with it too.

    Sorry PJM and SmartGirl, I wasn't sure how to send you the apple butter so I've been eating it all by myself. Where's Old Bear? He's a Hoosier, maybe he could come by and eat some bread and apple butter with me...

    About yesterday's post.
    Those horses knew the route so well that the owner didn't have to drive the wagon he would just ride along , and when the horse stopped he did his thing. So he had time to read the postcards, and other items.
    The milkman horse would do the same thing. The milkman could just keep working and the horse would keep moving along the route.
    When he got the truck, he would have to stop get out, make his stop, get back in, drive forward, make his stop, get back in,drive forward, ETC., ETC.
    So it was a lot harder and took a lot longer.

    Wow, great job. You once mentioned that you lived on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

    Wow, you must be rich. My husband grew up in NYC - East 86th and York.

    He still works there now event though we live in RI. We go there all the time - I love it, but I could never live there.

    It makes me claustrophobic.

    A long way from rich. I recently retired after forty one years as stagehand here in NYC. I lived on the upper Westside before the gentrification and it was still very affordable. I've lived in the East Village for the last ten years.
