  5. Debbie,
That is funny. No relation, as far as I know, though.

  6. It was a stretch. And I would have followed up with a "Where did you find this one?!" I think I've studied posted pictures of him so closely, trying to figure it out, that one just began to look like him.

  10. My 17 year old son is helping today. He wanted to know why there was no subject for a lead to research. I told him it was a contest.

He's still helping but he is confused. *lol*

I'm probably barking up the wrong tree, but he looks like a really young Benjamin Harrison

  14. Ah ha! First time submitting a guess ever, and I know it is right!

This is Frank Welch, who was a member of the US House of Representatives from Nebraska in 1877.

Took a while, but I found it!

  16. Thanks! I took a guess that since there was a Nebraska theme this week, it was someone important from Nebraska. Checked Govs and Senators up to 1900 - no luck. Next came the Reps, and he turned up quickly.

    Thanks for the fun search!

  20. Gerald,

  21. Thanks everyone! I discovered the site about 4 days ago and was looking forward to the puzzle this week so I could try my hand at it.

I ALMOST didn't get a chance though! Judi's guess this morning (Lorenzo Crounse) was very close. Mr. Crounse was the Representative in that seat before Mr. Welch.

Looking forward to more old photos. This is fun!
