  1. I remember the first biography I read in school was about Eleanor Roosevelt..and even at such a young age I couldn't help but to admire and appreciate what an incredible woman she was.

  2. This week's pictures have been fabulous! BTW, these women were smokers as well as Laura Bush. Lady BIrd, Jackie Kennedy, Rosalyn Carter and Mrs Taft, to name a few.

  3. RE: Anon: Interesting, I did not know that Laura Bush was a smoker. I do know that very few Presidents in the 20th Century were cigarette smokers: Obama, Reagan (at least in films), Johnson, Ike, and FDR. IF we factor in cigars, the list grows by leaps and bounds.

  4. Where is the King? The Queen is obviously seated beside Mrs. Roosevelt, but everyone else looks as if they are bodyguards or the like.

  5. It looks like Walter Cronkite peeking through the rear window.

  6. The King is driving. He wanted to try drive a car which has the steering wheel on the opposite side than in GB. :)

By the way, whose face is on the windshield on the left?

  9. My favorite First Lady, she handled herself so well during difficult times, the war, and her husband's infidelity and illness.

And. . . we share the same first name!!!
