Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

ReplyDeleteWith all those free strands there, I'd say she must be weaving.
ReplyDeleteShe is making a 'kiondo' or Kikuyu bag. The kiondos are used all over the world in modern days. But they are much smaller. Maybe that is why you think this one in the photo is a blanket. That is funny.
ReplyDeleteHey. Fort Hall (Muranga) is about 100 miles from Nyeri. Thank you for the photo anyway. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting. The Woman is weaving a huge kiondo (basket). It seems like they made them much finer than we do today.
