Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

Wyatt Earp?
ReplyDeleteHe definitely has the mustache for it, but nope, it is not one of the Earp boys.
ReplyDeleteThe facial features look similar, are they father/son.
ReplyDeleteNo, they are not father/son.
ReplyDeleteOn the left, John Henderson. On the right, Michael Shiner?
ReplyDeleteHa! Not even close.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I have finally stumped you all.
How about Gutzon and Solon Borglund who are sculpting the indian and horse monument in the Black Hills of South Dakota?
ReplyDeleteHA! I laugh at your feeble attempts. No, wrong again.
ReplyDeleteSeriousely, I thought this one woudl be easy.
Any chance the guy on the left is Joshua Chamberlain?
ReplyDeleteYour pitiful efforts amuse me . . . not even close.
ReplyDeleteJoseph Stalin and Vladamir Lenin?
ReplyDeleteHA! I have stumped you all!
ReplyDeleteAre they Orville and Wilbur Wright? [Wild guess.]
ReplyDeleteBrother Dave, Wild Guess and Wildly wrong.
ReplyDeleteI alone know the answer. ha ha ha (maniacal laugh)
Okay, you are killin' me! What about the real Cassidy and Sundance?
ReplyDeleteWrong again. Yawn.
ReplyDeleteAdmiral Peary and F.W. Stokes??
ReplyDeleteDan
A correct answer would require both individuals to be correctly named. I will say nothing other than that.
ReplyDeletePeary and Robert Bartlett?
ReplyDeleteWe have a winner. Robert Peary on the left, and Bartlett on the right.
ReplyDeleteFoiled again. I was unable to stump the internet.
I am suprised it took so long on this one. The rope would indicate that the picture was taken on a ship. The men are not bankers on vacation, and are not sailors. That would point you to exploreres, and then from there, there are not that many famous explorers in the era of film.
Admiral Peary was easy, but the other picture didn't look like any of the pictures I found of Bartlett.
ReplyDeleteDan
Dan, chalk this win up to YOU. I never would have thought to research Peary. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThe two did not look like the Wright brothers. However, I was compelled to make a [wild] guess, knowing all along I was [wildly] wrong.
