Party On

Boy did I get a bunch of Angry email yesterday. You all just get to read the blog comments, but the really interesting stuff comes directly to my inbox. To be honest, the mail went beyond angry, and could best be described as down right hateful.


So, today I am turning over a new leaf. No commentary on the future, and no more negativity. All positive, all the time. That is the new motto of the blog. Can't have those negative thoughts dragging us down. So, all happy pictures from now on. The picture above is a real happy one. It shows a group of people dancing the Charleston in front of the capitol. Not a care in the world. Party On, . . . like its 1929. Pardon me now, I have to go shop for that new 72 inch plasma TV.

  1. I'm certainly never offended, we are all supposed to be free to speak our mind, and if we don't we risk losing that ability. More power to ya! If we disagree we disagree- and I usually try to disagree in a polite way. We should all aspire to this.

    I've always found you to have a great sense of humor- today's pic only proves it. I'm a permanent fan.

    And with the TV, I'd go for the Sony!

  4. Sorry to hear you were slammed with negativity. It appears that you are quite fond of TR. One of the more oft repeated quotes of his was from a speech he gave at the Sorbonne in 1910:

    "It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better.   6. I am ashamed of those among us who feel compelled to express anger and hatefulness toward others over different opinions.

    Those who take offense where none is intended are a curious lot. Perhaps they have miserable lives and wish for others to be as unhappy.

    Nothing you have ever said has seemed out of place. Go figure.

  11. Agreed. Your commentary in the previous post were *fine* and largely on target. Both presidential candidates promised us: more war, more spending, more illegal international actions, more anti-constitutional executive orders, more of the same we've been getting from them all for generations. Uncle FISA or Grandpa Keating 5, that's the choice that most everyone seemed to be *grateful* to make. The reason they get so upset when criticized is they know what snakes they are and what nastiness they've bought us all.

    While I also have a soft spot for TR because of his national parks thing and that anyone who delivers a speech after being shot in the chest deserves some admiration, he wasn't better than the rest. Killing for the sake of imaginary borders or interests is just killing dressed up in rhetoric.

  12. This is my first comment on any blog of any sort ... and your decision to go mute due to hateful comments of miscreants prompted it. I only recently discovered this site and think that you are an internet hero. Not only do you volunteer your time and intellect to an effort that benefits who- knows-how-many across this spectrum, you have the courage to speak your thoughts. Please do not pull back. I think you would be disappointed in yourself and we would be poorer for this action.

  14. I'm always amazed by these so called "enlightened" people who can't stand the fact that other thinking adults have different opinions. They have no intelligent arguments, so they revert to hate filled rhetoric to still opposing thoughts. Don't let the hate mongers still your thoughts and your freedom of speech.

  16. I cannot imagine the mental reasoning "or lack of it" that would generate hate mail over your very sensible comments. Just speak to anyone who survived the depression: they will tell you the same things. Use it up, wear it out, do without. Those who dissagree to the point of hate mail are simply blind to reality. Even if it does not get as bad as we think it will, the path of frugality is still the wise choice. An analogy is a car with a bad gas guage: we know we have gas right now. We know we are traveling down the road...right now. But we don't know when we will run out. Do we put our foot to the floor and burn the fuel we have as if there were no tomorrow? Or do we use it only when we need it, and stretch it for as long as it will go? I, for one, will save the fuel as though there were none available in the future. If it turns out that I am wrong, I am no worse off.

  24. Those fools can go buy a big plasma TV or fancy car, but without electricity for the TV it's a great big dust collector and without gas for the car its an expensive paperweight.

It's wonderful to see some positive responses. although, I think we all need to pray for the anonymous that said you delete the comments you don't like. I think someone didn't get loved enough as a child...(to quote Texas Ranger from Talladega Nights!) LOL!
    Keep on Keepin' on! I look forward every day to go on this site and see the pictures and read the comments. I've been doing it for over a year now, it just keeps getting better!

Sure there'll always be negatives out there but let's ignore them, they'll have their say but let's focus on the wonderful vibe that comes from looking at all these wonderful old pics.
