Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

ReplyDeleteDiamond Jim Brady was a fascinating character--well-known for his voracious appetite. He was an associate of Lillian Russell, who you may have heard of. I would definitely recommend checking out that Wikipedia page that anonymous posted!
ReplyDeletealso there's this
ReplyDeleteThere's a casino chain in Missoula, MT called Diamond Jim's and I remember their menu having quite a bit of history about him, but I can't find it online.
When I was little there was an amusement park that had a wax museum. Diamond Jim Brady was one of the figures. He was huge. I always wondered who he was. Sitting next to his figure was Lillian Russell. I had no idea who she was either.
ReplyDeleteI know nothing of this man but would like ask the ringleader of this blog, which I adore, if he will put up more Civil War or Wild West photos. I would greatly appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteI just posted a Civil War picture. Thanks for your suggestion. I will continue to look for more Old West photos.

If I'm not mistaken, judging from other images available on the Internet and from the "x" mark above his head in the image, Diamond Jim is the gentleman on the right.
