James A. Garfield

This is a portrait of James A. Garfield, 20th president of the United States. Mr. Garfield was shot on this day, July 2, in the year 1881. He would die 11 weeks later from infection and complications from the wounds.

  1. Stunning, moody photograph. What's incredible about all the photos on your site is that they're absolutely pin-sharp... it makes everybody look so 'real'; if it wasn't for the differing hair and clothes, they look as if they could be seen walking down the street today. I love your site!!

  2. He loooks like a man not to be toyed with.
