Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

Somehow I find it difficult to see how such a small, fragile craft could launch with that guy's overcoat much less the coat and the guy together. The wing loading would be tremendous. Such was the faith placed on these early aircraft.

ReplyDeleteYeah, the guy looks like a big rock compared to that little airplane. He does not look very aerodynamic.
ReplyDeleteMy husband has been showing our young daughter the old pictures and reading the the captions. After seeing the airplane today, the first thing she asked him was, 'where is the restroom?' Glad we found you, your site is great.
ReplyDeleteThe guy is Alberto Santos Dumont.
