This is a charming Russell Lee photograph from 1938. It shows a group of school children playing a game of Tug of War in the schoolyard. Picture was taken in Southeast Missouri. I can remember when I was in elementary school, we played tug of war during recess. I would bet that there would be some rules against this type of thing now days.Friday, April 11, 2008

Hm, tug-of-war was still allowed when I was growing up in the 80's and early 90's...

ReplyDeleteI still remember spinning around on that hanging-on thingy in the background of your pic--until they removed it from our Chicago school playground as a "safety" measure.
