Prohibition

This is a picture taken in 1922 in Washington DC. It shows a woman with a flask hidden in her boot. This of course, was during the period of prohibition in the United States

  2. I was wondering the same thing. It looks like they are in the tile work. It was in the 1920's that the Nazis took the shape as a symbol of their movement. It was a fairly common decorative shape before that. Likely at the time this photograph was made, the shape was not widely associated with Nazis.

  3. Yes, I think that this is the explanation. Swastikas were indeed not unknown before the raise of Nazis. I have the photograph of Jacqeline Kennedy as a kid, wearing an indians costume, decortated with a big Swastika.

  5. Good Pic again. Nazi Swastikas? Cool tile work. Swastikas are neat looking, too bad there association prohibits there use. Damn Nazi's

  6. The Swastika is still a very important symbol in hinduism. However, I think that after 1945, they've probably changed the tiles...
