Today we feature a nice image titled, "Jitterbugging in Negro juke joint". The photograph was made in 1939 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The picture was taken by Marion Post Wolcott.


  1. Tee hee! I always thought the dances of the 20s and 30s looked so fun. :)

    I havent been on line much the past several days - I've missed my visits here.

  2. As you go through all these old pictures, it is interesting how "happy" things were in the 1910's and 1920's, and then the abject misery of the 1930's. By 1939, when this picture was taken, things started looking a little happier in the pictures.
